Joyful Moments

We didn't realize we were making memories; we just knew we were having fun!

Jewelry is made of gems, precious metals, and stories. The story can tell how the jewelry was made or the story of why the jewelry was chosen - to celebrate true love, or mark a milestone birthday or anniversary, or simply to put a smile on someone special's face. We share our favorite jewelry stories here.

Just the month before I was going to ask THE BIG QUESTION, I found the perfect pear shaped diamond that would look beautiful in my Dad,s V shaped solitaire ring set. After receiving a YES, we went down the next Sunday afternoon to chose the setting of her choice. To my surprise she chose this ring set which couldn't have a pear shaped diamond set in it . So we went on the lookout for the round brilliant, with the help of my father, that would fit. A year later for our first anniversary, I then gave her the pear shaped in a beautiful necklace. The King,s Jewelers has been my store ever since ! 59 years later( 3 children, 5 grand children, and soon to be 2 great grandchi[ldren) they are still number one in our hearts. Congratulations on the beautiful new store on this your 107 year .WOW

So many memories from these three necklaces. The gold one gifted to me by my mom, the silver with blue stone was from my husband and the purple stone was a recent gift to myself. Love them all and switch them out daily.BTW this photo does not show the full beauty of these necklaces!!!King’s Jewelry has always been there for cleaning my keepsakes to repairing many, even designing new rings💜 It is always worth the 40 minute drive into Walnut Creek!

My precious 92 year old mom passed away on May 3rd of this year. She lived alone, and her wedding ring desperately needed cleaning… a few weeks after the funeral, I brought mom’s ring in to Marilyn, to have it cleaned and totally remade, as it appeared to have possibly fallen into the garbage disposal in the past. The King’s Jewelers remade and resized the band, replaced the prongs and it brought me to tears when I saw how beautiful the ring was after being repaired! I have worn it every day since!

When I got engaged last year, my dad told me he would like to surprise my mom and have a piece of jewelry made for her to wear at the wedding (he is very sentimental 😊). There were very specific, meaningful elements we wanted to incorporate and I am so thankful I found Marielle and King’s Jewelers to make this happen. After multiple design iterations, the necklace came out perfect and my mom gasped when she saw it and said it was the most beautiful piece of jewelry she had ever seen. Through the design experience, I became very well acquainted with Marielle and feel like I had weekly meetings for all the wedding help I needed!!…1. Fixed the heirloom necklace of my grandmother’s I wore to the wedding 2. I bought my wedding earrings and bracelet 3. I bent my engagement ring (not from King’s) and they fixed it and also walked me through the benefits of getting a new setting after the wedding to reduce the risk of damaging it again. I had it reset it in a more stable setting but one that also was in the spirit of my original engagement ring. 4. Repurposed my original setting with a tourmaline stone for my right hand. I’ve shared all of the photos with Marielle and know my wedding wouldn’t have been as wonderful without her and the King’s team. Thank you all and I can’t wait to see the new store.

Thank you, so much for fixing my 20 year old wedding set. It brings me joy, EVERYTIME I look at it. It's gorgeous, just as the day I got married

Joshua and I designed our ring with his good friend Marielle, truly a dream come true. The ring turned out wispy and dainty, yet sturdy and modern- incorporating all the juxtapositions and mixed ideals it’s meant to represent. I’ve always kept a tab on what type of engagement/wedding set I’d want and it has fluxed over time. Two things have remained constant: I want something slightly alternative and a stack. After going a few places, uninspired, I went to my kitchen table and asked myself, what do I really want? Then it came to me; an East-West set oval. It brought together the style and sentiment I want this ring to carry. I drew some sketches to get an idea of the final vision and there it was, the culmination of my past & present. I was able to integrate all the elements I wanted and even more significant; it is the perfect representation of Joshua and I. An East-West oval is a classic cut in a modern setting, just like us. Joshua and I are this hodgepodge of tradition and modernity. Shown through our senses of style, the way we navigate our relationship, our individual gender expressions, and our values. We cherish duality, the essence of our shared twin air sign. Marielle, having done Josh’s siblings rings was waiting for his time to come. When we were browsing center-stones at The Kings, they weren’t resonating when I heard a voice from behind me, “Marielle, you have a delivery”. When she told us the specifics on this new diamond delivery, without even seeing the stone, we knew it was the one. It was a true Harry Potter moment! We then discussed every.little.detail. about the ring and sent it off to a local goldsmith. Later we returned to try on the wax mold and after a few adjustments I never saw the ring again until Josh was down one knee. Seeing our creation of love for the first time is a moment I will never forget. It came out perfect and I cannot thank Marielle enough for all her expert guidance. I can’t wait to wear this ring for the rest of my life and always be reminded of what it symbolizes.

Our daughter Claire and son-in-law Jeremy got their wedding rings from The King’s Jewelers. They were living in Seattle at the time, and they asked me to help. I was able to work work with Dave at TKJ to get the perfect rings for their engagement and wedding. My husband and I were able to fly up to Seattle for the engagement day (a surprise to Claire), and it was such a special day! And their wedding was practically perfect in every way, complete with the rings that symbolize their forever commitment to each other.

Thank you so much to The King’s Jewelers! I am in love with every moment of my engagement. My ring is everything I could have dreamed of! Me and my fiancé Jacob met four years ago while on a camping trip with mutual friends. Four years later he proposed in the same spot we met and we are planning forever together!

Sam and Sukh met in 2007 at UCSF where they were pursuing a dental residency. At first, they were just friends, but over the next few years, their friendship grew. Finally, in 2016, they decided to get married… but they gave themselves just 3 months to plan the bash! A friend mentioned that they were working with The King's Jewelers in Walnut Creek for their wedding rings, so Sukh decided to check them out. She was pleasantly surprised that this process was so fun and efficient! Using a computer-aided design process, Patty and Marielle helped design the ring of Sukh’s dreams! And of course, Sam put his input in as well! Sam was still able to surprise Sukh with a beautiful engagement, on her birthday, that she did not expect. They got married January 1, 2017 and are going strong since! Sukh remains a loyal customer to The King’s Jewelers and visits at least 3-4 times a year. She has a lot of fun slowly building up her lovely jewelry collection!

A good friend recommended I check out The King’s Jewelers while I was planning to propose to my now wife. Kathy and the rest of the staff helped me pick out a beautiful heart shaped diamond and then guided me step by step in designing a custom engagement ring. My wife and I love how beautiful and unique the completed ring is—no one else has one quite like it. We even came back for both our wedding bands. The craftsmanship of each piece is top-notch, and Kathy and crew brought a wealth of knowledge and a personal touch that made the whole process easy and enjoyable. Thank you guys! We highly recommend the King’s Jewelers!

Bret proposed to Lauren on November 4, 2016 while on a weekend trip up the coast to Sea Ranch. Before he could propose he had to find the perfect ring and boy was Bret faced with a challenge. Lauren had a very certain style in mind and after countless visits to various jewelry stores, only to be let down, it was pretty much determined that the dream ring only existed on the internet...with a very high price tag! "We walked into The King's Jewelers feeling fairly defeated and were greeted by Marielle who turned out to be our wedding ring hero! She helped us to think about various options and when we decided that the best choice would be to design our own ring, Marielle and The Kings Jewelers staff supported us throughout the entire process. Their commitment to delivering quality, beautiful pieces that exceed even your highest hopes, is something we as a couple found to be unmatched during our ring search. Marielle listened to all our ideas, concerns, and requests and used her superb talent to design and finetune a piece of jewelry that checked every box I could dream up while still staying within our budget. As a bride and groom, you really hope that the whole engagement and wedding process is amazing and fun from start to finish. I cannot say enough how great it felt for the ring hunting process to go from frustrating and dreaded to fun and exciting! I look forward to stopping in every so often to have my ring checked and cleaned and to give Marielle a hug. We just can't thank her enough for making the process so special and perfect!"
